After a two year break, AccountingWEB’s Printer Buyers Guides will be making a return this autumn – and we need your help to identify the makes and models that have proved their worth to your organisation.

Despite the current pervasiveness of handheld and portable devices that allow for data and document consumption, collaboration, and communication, printers and their output remain firmly established in most businesses and organisations.

In 2009, AccountingWEB enlisted the help of community members and the rest of the Sift Media portfolio to compile a comprehensive series of Business Buyer’s Guides to Printers, recommending desktop and networked models from a broad spectrum of manufacturers including Kyocera, Oki, Brother, and Samsung.

Hugely successful, the guides will make a comeback this autumn with a focus on desktop and networked printers. As with the previous set of guides we need your feedback to showcase the printing devices that have impressed (or not) users the most.

If you can spare just a minute or two of your time to complete our survey, all we are asking is for a quick rating on what you think of the printer you use, and how much it costs to run. The insights you provide will help us compare similar models head to head to produce a definitive, hands-on guide, which will be published in September.

If you would like to contribute to this important project, please complete the printer survey now - you can rate as many machines as you like.

How many buy for the Printer rather than the Scanner function?

We only use our multi-function Canon as a printer maybe 3-4 times a month and to be honest, like fridges, one printer does pretty much what the other one does.  Ironically the most expensive bit (the ink) is wasted in ours because, invariably, because we hardly use it, the stuff congeals, meaning running a cleaning routine before we can print.

Brother DCP 8085DN

Purchased this printer beginning of the year to replace our HP2200 refurb model.

To date it's been execellent, 8000 cartridge just replaced after 10500 pages.

Duplex printing and scanning. Both excellent, hardly ever jams [tempting fait]

Fax option but didn't require it as our pc's have modems, mine acts as main fax receive and answerphone [faxtalk messenger]

Colour laser - Didn't fancy what I felt was an unecessary expense

Only real blemish, envelopes, have to use rear output [flat] which for us and it's positioning is fiddly but only really do a run once a month

You could try a Dymo Label Writer and "windowless" envelopes.  We would not be without ours !

Dymo, windowless envs

Had thought about it originally but for the volume we use once a mth doesn't seem worth it but will reconsider. Thanks
