Scandinavian developer Mamut has turned up the heat in its campaign to break into the UK market by launching an introductory Office edition priced at £199.

The Mamut Business, Office edition is designed with firms of up to 50 employees and includes accounting, purchasing/logistics, customer relationship managment and reporting functions as well as a Web shop module.

"Mamut's business model is based on offering to the small and medium sized market a complete solution which is otherwise only offered to the largest businesses with much greater budgets," said Mamut UK director Alan Moody.

Earlier in 2004 Mamut launched the Mamut portfolio 'Mamut Business Software' with the Mamut Business, Enterprise edition product. With the launch of Mamut Business, Office edition Mamut now fully supports all businesses with 1-50 employees.

'Mamut offers products with a unique combination of functionality, ease of use and price. Mamut's business model is based on offering to the small and medium sized market a complete solution which is otherwise only offered to the largest businesses with much greater budgets. We focus exclusively on a 'plug and play' standard solution at a price which cannot be compared with existing products and services in the UK markets.'

Mamut Business was launched in the UK during the spring, priced at £349 (or £399 when bundled with a PC and Microsoft Office in a "business in a box option" offered by reseller Evesham Technology.

The Mamut Business, Office edition is designed for single PC users such as start-up businesses and single traders.
