This week, BTCSoftware has released a new version of its practice management and self assessment solution and Adaptive Insight has announced a new event in Manchester on 20 March which will explore the future of forecasting.
BTCSoftware announces new features
BTCSoftware has announced the release of the 2018 practice management and self-assessment solution. The release includes individual and partnership tax return functionality for 2018 and an update to the exclusions that HMRC has released for the year ending 5 April 2017.
Other features include an improved pre-July 31st payment on account calculation process, improvements to the detail data entry (drill down data) and the ability to save the capital gains form (SA108) without allocating the in-year losses and improvements to the tax return and task internal notes.
Additionally, the company has announced that the next release (scheduled for mid-April) will include introduction of a 2016/17 SA exclusions retrospective checker.
Manchester finance leadership series
Financial planning software provider Adaptive Insights has announced a Finance Leadership Series event in Manchester on Tuesday, 20 March 2018. The complimentary event will cover a discussion exploring the future of planning, budgeting and forecasting.
“With the current atmosphere of rapid change and uncertainty, being able to accurately forecast has gained huge currency for business leaders,” the company said.
“Streamlining the planning process to become more responsive to change; enabling a single source of truth with integrated planning, analytics, and reporting is key to drive growth and optimise performance.”
The event, which will take place at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Manchester Hotel will include panel discussions with local finance leaders and a networking lunch with CFOs and other leaders.
Google releases Hangouts Chat
Google has released Hangouts Chat, a Slack alternative available in G Suite designed to make collaboration between teams easy. The app enables users to share and find documents, send direct messages, participate in group conversations and use third-party bots to speed up workflows.
In the field of accounting, Xero has already developed a bot that aims to make communications more efficient for accountants and bookkeepers and their clients, making it possible to access and manage queries straight from the chat platform.
Construction Industry Scheme management in Xero
Accountant with construction clients using the construction industry scheme (CIS) solution in Xero, can now benefit from a new set of features.
The beta CIS solution in Xero was launched last year. Now, its new features enable users to automate all CIS calculations, automatically calculate the right deductions when sending send invoices and bills and automatically calculating CIS deductions before making payments as well as producing contractor monthly CIS Return.
Other features will be added in the coming year, including the ability to file directly from Xero and verifying subcontractors directly with HMRC.
