BrightPay and QuickBooks integration

BrightPay is now using an API connected with QuickBooks Online (QBO) to communicate between the payroll and accounting applications. The integration allows BrightPay to bypass manual uploads to create a QBO-specific payroll journal with an in-built nominal ledger and compatible files.

Automatically transferring the payroll journal from BrightPay in this way reduces the likelihood of input errors, the company said.

BrightPay’s payroll journal also includes pay records across numerous pay frequencies which can be merged on specific dates when selected.

Bokio launches bank feeds

Bokio announced that its bookkeeping app now supports automatic bank feeds via an external provider, Plaid. The feeds post bank accounts and credit cards transactions to Bokio four times a day.

When the bank is connected to Bokio, last month’s transactions will automatically populate in the 'To Do List', ready to be recorded.

Users are then able to attach relevant files in Bokio’s To Do List and record the matched items with the bookkeeping.

FreeAgent freshens up VAT menu

FreeAgent has recently announced two new dropdowns as part of its VAT returns function to help users claim back VAT and avoid unnecessary charges:

Pre-registration costs dropdown: A new ‘Include pre-registration purchases’ dropdown allows users to claim back VAT for assets and stock bought by the client within four years of registration (and still owns), and services billed within the last six months.

New ‘out of scope’ VAT rate option: For goods and services considered outside of UK VAT scope, this rate can be used to prevent applicable client VAT charging. The option is also useful for entering historical transactions from locked periods, including previously un-entered FreeAgent options.

Revolut’s account partner programme

With the partner program, accountants and their partners can partner with Revolut and receive partner benefits like real-time API integrations with QBO, Slack, Zapier, Xero and FreeAgent, reducing manual processes.

Other benefits include priority onboarding for accountant’s clients, first choice of new product testing, and free access to paid features such as payment approval, user permissions and bulk payments.
