Xero puts emphasis on practitioners with new Accountants Edition

New Zealand-based accounting software as a service provider Xero has shifted its attention from small business end users to practitioners with the release of a new Xero Accountants Edition. John Stokdyk reports.

Unlike many other online accounting services, Xero initially focused on building up demand from small business users. "We looked at accounting from their shoes and designed the interface so they can just run the business and the accounting data is a by-product," explained Xero co-founder Rod Drury. "Now we are really focusing on the accountant side of the equation."

The Xero Accountants Edition is stripped down for small business users and intended to be supplied by their accountants - the most popular channel to market for the new generation of online accounting application...
