Zuora takes online software into billing automation

Last month a US start-up called Zuora opened up an online service for handing billing, payments and customer orders. It was set up by ex-Webex and Salesforce.com staffers who wanted to take software as a service into new corporate territories. Stuart Lauchlan, news and analysis editor of MyCustomer.com, reports.

Most of the hype and razzmatazz surrounding software as a service (SaaS) has focused on customer management and sales force automation, mainly due to the success of of Salesforce.com and RightNow, and NetSuite which includes some finance and HR functions in its offering.
